Happy Holidays at the Park

Posted on December 21, 2018

Everyone at the Park is anxious for the arrival of Saintnicosaurus on Christmas Eve Night!  All the Prehistoric Pals have been helping with the decorations and making sure they’ve been nice.  Dinosaur cookies and milk will be left for Saintnicosaurus to enjoy.  We Hope All Your Wishes Come True!

The Triceratops gathered pinecones to share with Ms. Berrington’s Kindergarten Class at Mountain Vista Elementary School in Fillmore.  The kids had a great time painting them and adding glitter.  One young man decided to demonstrate his skills by painting while holding the brush with his teeth.  Well, every artist has their own style.

I shared some with the 2nd graders at MacArthur Elementary in Los Angeles during a readingtokids.org event.  We cut out shapes from colored paper to make Santa Hats, noses and beards as well as antlers to make reindeer heads.  Googly eyes were finishing touches for both.  Some of the pinecones stood up straight which made them perfect to decorate as Christmas trees.  Paper and bead ornaments attached with some glue completed the look.

Before Story Time the Dinosaurs were getting a little restless.  Alejandro started a pillow fight with Kevin.  We have been reading “The Dinosaurs Night Before Christmas” by Anne Muecke.  The CD included with the book has a narration by Al Roker and 5 Dinosaur Christmas Songs – “Hey, Duckbills to the tune of Jingle Bells, “Hark the Pterodactyls Sing” I’m sure you can guess the tune, The Allosaurus Chorus My Favorite to the tune of the Hallelujah Chorus, Deck the Halls with Stegosaurus you can guess this tune too, We Wish You a Dino Holiday I’m sure you will know this tune, as well.  I also revised a couple of songs for the Dinosaurs for you to enjoy.

Rudolph the Red Nose Raptor

Rudolph the red nose Raptor had a very shiny nose.

And if you ever saw it you would even say it glows.

All of the other Raptors would shout and call him names.

They wouldn’t let poor Rudolph play in the Raptor games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve Saintnicosaurus came to say,

Rudolph with your nose so bright,

will you guide my sleight tonight?

All the other Raptors shouted out with glee,

Rudolph the red nose Raptor You’ll go down in history!
